Notes from the game: 2017 Round 10 Brisbane

As expected, the Pies have a win over the lowly Lions.

Team Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Final
Collingwood 5.5 9.10 11.16 18.21 129
Brisbane 4.3 6.3 10.6 13.6 84

It was a desultory game to watch. The Pies did enough without really playing convincing football. However The Footy Bogan had a great afternoon. Three generations of TFB attended this match and that part worked a treat.

From the "my work here is done" department: we take our seats and look around. At this stage it is quite sunny. Except for the cold, many people would call it a nice day. (Later, the sky will darken and a shower will descend on the players. Then in true Melbournian style, the sun will return.) The 5-year-old grandson of The Footy Bogan responds that he has no memory of previous attendances at the footy. He's looking around, orienting himself. Suddenly, he sparks to life. "I just saw the team that we go for!" He means that the Collingwood Magpie logo appeared momentarily on the big screen. But the crucial point is "we".

Positives

We have two pretty impressive running backs: Brayden Maynard and Josh Smith. Both had 25 disposals - just behind the 4 musketeers (Sidebottom, Adams, Pendlebury, Treloar) - and kicked a goal.

Every one of Collingwood's players reached double figures for disposals. 9 Lions didn't.

Negatives

Most betting agencies had the Pies at about $1.05. Yet, once again we failed to make the line (47). Once again our opponents' percentage improved.

In Q3, our opponents scored 4 unanswered goals.

18.21!

Other observations

Fasolo, once Mr Reliable, 17 disposals, 6 marks for 2.4. Elliott had 14, 8, 4.4.

The wrap

There's not really anything that can be learnt from this game.
