Are they mad?

How can you omit Josh Smith?

What are they thinking in Collingwood land? Josh Smith has been the most reliable, effective footballer in the team almost from the first game he played. For Tuesday's Anzac Day clash, he has been dropped along with Jarryd Blair to make way for Daniel Wells and Tom Phillips. (The other exchange is Jesse White out for Mason Cox - but you have to believe that that is a like-for-like swap.)

I'm ok with Wells replacing Blair who has been less than outstanding of late.

Oh, it should be noted that there is nothing wrong with Josh Smith: he has been named as one of three emergencies.

Dropping players is a hard and unpleasant task, but I think that on revealed recent form Jackson Ramsay would have less claim to a spot than Smith. Frankly, I don't see how Phillips with 6 games can displace Smith with 18. One could perhaps argue that he doesn't deserve to replace anyone.
