Team Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Final Brisbane 0.0 3.0 7.2 10.5 65 Collingwood 4.9 11.17 15.22 20.23 143
Going into this game, Buckley was on a hiding to nothing. A loss would mean another nail in his coffin; but a win would simply hold off the dogs for another week. They'd be back baying for blood before long. In the event, the margin probably pulled a previous nail out of his coffin.
In: Ben Sinclair, Taylor Adams, Travis Varcoe Out: James Aish (Omitted), Tim Broomhead (Ankle), Ben Reid (Shoulder)
I thought someone at Collingwood was rolling the dice. Surely if you lose Reid, you need a tall replacement. Maybe the brains trust knew something about Brisbane that I didn't.
Positives and Negatives
+ Scoring the first 8 goals of the match - 4.9, 8.12, 11.17 - Collingwood's inaccuracy in front of goal. + Keeping Brisbane scoreless for a quarter and a half - Taking the foot off the throat and letting them back in + Adam Treloar, Taylor Adams, Ben Crocker, Mason Cox - Our ability to leak goals
Despite the high score, I don't think this game hit the heights.
The wrap
So, how much is this win worth? It's certainly better than a loss. But did it look like Collingwood had turned it's season around? After the win against the Bombers, fans might have thought they had a reason for optimism. Having been burnt once, I would expect them to be more cautious this time. Next week the challenge is Geelong. I wouldn't put my house on the Pies winning.
