Notes from the game: 2015 Round 1 Brisbane

Despite expectations, the Pies start the year with a win.

Team Q1 Q2 Q3 Q4 Final
Brisbane Lions 2.3 3.5 7.6 11.8 74
Collingwood Magpies 3.3 7.6 12.11 12.14 86

Overview

Collingwood looked ok for two-and-half quarters; then they hit a brick wall. Brisbane scored the last 7 goals of the match.

In the first part of the game, Collingwood got out to a 53-point lead. The Pies showed a bit of system going forward. They weren't in the sort of form that makes finals, let alone wins premierships, but there were some positive signs. Admittedly, Brisbane looked inept.

Collingwood won by 1.6, returning to an inaccuracy of old.

And also

For Brisbane, Dayne Beams had a game-high 33 disposals exceeding Swan and Adams (31). Cloke and White booted a brace each. The rest were share by 5 smalls (at 190 cm, Crisp is perhaps a little taller than your average small). My guess is that Buckley would have been well satisfied with the spread of goal kickers. And just as unimpressed with the fadeout.

The other satisfying figure would have been White's 7 marks and Elliott's game-high 8.
